Updates on the Dogs Involved in Gilbert's Suspected Animal Cruelty Case

Multiple dogs in need of medical care were discovered at a Gilbert home. The Arizona Humane Society reported having 18 of these rescued dogs, while The Fetch Foundation is caring for several others. The discovery initiated after a welfare check by the police. The Arizona Humane Society stated they don't have the authority to seize animals, with that decision lying with the police. However, the Gilbert Police said the dogs were seized based on the discretion of the Humane Society. One dog's stomach was found filled with rocks and debris, leading to an emergency surgery. Another rescue, AZ Hidden Jem, had earlier become aware of the breeder's malpractices, revealing that several rescues had removed 400 to 600 dogs from the property in seven months. An investigation by the Gilbert Police was initiated after over 60 dogs in distress were discovered on the property.
Homebuilder Teams With Hospital To Provide Temporary Housing For Cancer Patients In Gilbert
Gilbert's Banner MD Anderson Cancer Center is constructing temporary housing for cancer patients and their families. The initiative, developed by Scottsdale homebuilder Taylor Morrison, will feature 16 two-bedroom houses. The first phase, comprising eight homes, will open in early 2024. These fully-furnished units are designed to provide a comfortable environment for extended stays and are located close to the hospital. Part of Bannerâs "Home Away from Home" program, qualified patients can stay for free. The Banner Health Foundation is fundraising for the unit's upkeep, targeting $7 million. With patients coming from outside Arizona and even internationally, these homes can significantly aid those requiring long-term treatments.

Chandler and Gilbert Named Two Best Places to Rent in the US

Chandler and Gilbert are ranked as the top two cities for renters in 2023 among the 96 most populated U.S. cities, as per Forbes Advisor. Chandler clinched the first spot with a perfect score of 100, marked by its amenities and a 4.77% decrease in average rent prices year-over-year. Gilbert, with a score of 99.37, was highlighted for its low crime rate, high median household income, and a wide variety of rental options. Scottsdale and Glendale also made the top 25, ranking 16th and 23rd respectively.
Controversial Gilbert Land Sells For $107.5M

A 311-acre area in Gilbert known as "The Ranch" was sold for $107.5 million after two years of negotiations between Indicap, Comena Group, Langley Properties, and The Dale C. Morrison Trust. Local residents initially opposed the project due to safety, traffic, and compatibility concerns. After months of discussions, a compromise was reached, integrating more commercial development and buffering industrial areas from the neighborhood. The project, slated to break ground in Q3 2024, will feature 221 acres of industrial space, 34 acres of commercial development, 39 acres for multi-family housing, and 16 acres of green space. This green space acts as a buffer for homes nearby. Developers will invest in $20 million worth of external improvements, and certain businesses like toxic waste facilities and marijuana dispensaries are prohibited from the site.
