The Arizona Coalition for Military Families is actively seeking participation in the 2023 Arizona Veteran Survey. This survey is a vital part of their ongoing commitment to better understand and meet the needs of Arizona's military community, including service members, veterans, and their families. The feedback collected will play a crucial role in identifying areas that require improvement and enhancement. The survey, which is expected to take only 10 to 15 minutes to complete, guarantees anonymity, ensuring no personal data is gathered. Established in 2009, the coalition has been a cornerstone in fostering a supportive environment for Arizona's military community. Dr Tillman - 17 Year Old Receives Doctorate Degree From Arizona State University

At just 17 years old, Dorothy Jean Tillman has made educational history by obtaining her Doctorate in Behavioral Health from Arizona State University. Her innovative research aimed at demystifying mental health services on campuses reflects her dedication to health and STEAM fields. Starting her academic journey at a tender age, Dr. Tillman has been a pioneering figure in environmental and sustainable science. Besides her academic feats, she leads the Dorothy Jeanius STEAM Leadership Institute, promoting STEAM education globally. Her story is a testament to the power of early education and the impact of STEAM on societal advancement.
ASU to Celebrate Over 11,000 Graduates in December Ceremonies
This December, over 11,000 students from Arizona State University (ASU), including more than 4,500 Arizonans, are set to graduate in a series of in-person ceremonies. These events, occurring from December 9 to 14, with major undergraduate and graduate commencements on December 11 at ASU's Tempe campus, mark a significant milestone for the graduates and their families.
ASU's appeal continues to grow internationally, yet the university remains dedicated to serving local Arizonans through initiatives like WeGrad, which helps Arizona families navigate higher education. Notably, nearly 6,000 of the graduates have completed their degrees through ASU Online, including members of the military and non-traditional students. This reflects ASU's commitment to lifelong learning and flexible education, which has earned it recognition within the Age-Friendly University Global Network.
The graduating class showcases ASU's diverse student body, with approximately 20% identifying as Hispanic and nearly 1,500 international students, marking a significant increase from previous years. The largest groups of graduates are from the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, the Ira A. Fulton Schools of Engineering, and the W. P. Carey School of Business. Additionally, colleges like the College of Global Futures, the Sandra Day O'Connor College of Law, and the Mary Lou Fulton Teachers College have seen notable increases in graduates this yea

Gilbert police collecting annual Blue Line of Love drive

The Gilbert Police Department is actively engaged in their annual Blue Line of Love Holiday Drive until December 18, 2023. This charitable endeavor is dedicated to aiding local families in need during the festive season. The department is seeking donations of various items, including gift cards for retail, restaurant, or grocery stores, new and unwrapped toys for teenagers, personal hygiene products, and new gift-wrapping materials. Donations can be made at the Gilbert Police Department Central lobby and the San Tan substation, with a special provision for gift card drop-offs in a secured box outside the main department building. In conjunction with the drive, a Photos with Santa event is also scheduled for December 12, offering a unique opportunity for community engagement and support.

Winterfest fundraiser features music ensembles

Gilbert Classical Academy is hosting its Winterfest event on December 9, from 11 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at 1016 N. Burk St. This public event features live performances from the school's musical ensembles, complemented by vendor booths, carnival games, food, and a silent auction. Principal Dr. Dan Hood highlights the event's role in supporting the performing arts, which are crucial to the academy's curriculum. Proceeds from Winterfest will benefit the school's music programs, including choir, orchestra, and band. Arizona State Volleyball Soars into Sweet 16, Celebrates Historic Win

The Arizona State Volleyball team recently marked a significant achievement by advancing to their first Sweet 16 in the modern 64-team era, celebrating this milestone with a jubilant locker room celebration.
