Old Eatery Being Replaced By New Apartments

A former Italian dining hotspot, Cosmoâs Restaurant, located at the intersection of Power and Williams Field roads, is set to become a mixed-use development named Bella Storia. The Gilbert Town Council has given the green light for a General Plan amendment, rezone, and annexation of the 74.45-acre site, which was previously under Maricopa County's domain. Di Bella Family LLP intends to construct 628 apartment units on 28 acres, 238 single-family homes on 32 acres, and commercial spaces spanning 13 acres. The development will also feature 100,000 square feet of shopping area. Despite the project proposing certain deviations, such as modified setbacks and smaller lot sizes, it has received significant support from local property owners and the community. The development aims to enhance the entrance to Gilbert and serve as an inviting space for those arriving from the nearby Phoenix-Mesa Gateway Airport.

Morning Glory Brunchery - Newly Opened

Located in Mesa, Morning Glory Brunchery has earned a reputation for its impeccable service, fresh and delectably cooked meals, along with a clean and radiant ambiance. The restaurant is renowned for its reasonable portion sizes and efficient service, often serving food in less than 15 minutes. It's hard to pick favorites, but the Country Fried Steak and Eggs and the Chorizo Skillet definitely stand out. The inclusion of charging stations is a considerate feature, appreciated by many.
The establishment is not just spotless but also child-friendly, offering a serene environment for all its patrons. However, there are a few points that might need improvement. The policy of not allowing changes to the TV station could be a letdown for some visitors, and there have been sporadic instances of longer waiting times. Additionally, some patrons weren't completely satisfied with the coffee served.
Despite these minor setbacks, the overall perception of Morning Glory Brunchery is overwhelmingly positive. Many customers voice their intention to revisit, demonstrating the restaurant's ability to create a memorable dining experience.

Another family alleges abuse at Heritage Village Assisted Living Center in Mesa
Concerns about abuse and negligence persist at the Heritage Village Assisted Living Center in Mesa. Becky Bibelheimer alleges that her mother, Barbara Higgins, experienced physical and verbal abuse during her time there, providing photographic evidence of bruises. Despite reporting to both Heritage Village administrators and external agencies, no action was taken. This follows a previous report about the death of Joyce Dinet, an 83-year-old resident of the facility who died after an alleged attack. The Arizona Department of Health Services has cited Heritage Village over 140 times in three years, prompting Governor Katie Hobbs to demand a state-level investigation and increased oversight of assisted living communities. The management at Heritage Village remains unresponsive to media inquiries.

SRP unveils energy plan that seeks balance among pricing, reliability and sustainability

Salt River Project (SRP) unveils a decade-long power plan, emphasizing the shift towards renewable energy sources while ensuring power reliability and avoiding a steep increase in customer bills. The 2025-2035 framework reduces the dependence on coal and natural gas but doesn't abandon them entirely. SRP aims to produce 7,000 megawatts from renewable resources, with solar energy providing 6,000 megawattsâenough for around 1.35 million homes. Environmentalists argue the plan still leans on coal and gas, with 2,000 megawatts of gas capacity planned for 2035 to ensure grid support. The surge in demand results from residential growth, business expansions, and electric vehicles. Angie Bond-Simpson, SRP's senior director, mentions the roadmap reflects customer preferences for affordability and balance. SRP, with a current capacity of 12,000 megawatts, anticipates a doubling or tripling by 2035. The company emphasizes the importance of maintaining a balance between transitioning to green sources and ensuring affordability and reliability for its customers.
